Where are you located?

At the moment, all therapy sessions are conducted virtually in a secure online setting. When in-person sessions can safely resume, my office is located in Downtown Brooklyn at Alma: 397 Bridge Street, 7th Floor. Alma is a Therapist Collective, of which I am a member of the Founders’ Circle.

How do I get started?

On the Connect page, please submit your availability through the contact form to schedule an appointment.  Alternatively, feel free to visit my provider profile on Alma to reach out.

I'm so happy that I found Roberta.  When I walked into the session, I had no idea what to expect as I had never sought out professional advice.  Roberta is kind, non-judgmental, and patient and really helped me to overcome many issues.  I'm happy that I found a therapist I can work with in the future and would definitely recommend her to anyone.

What are the ongoing assignments?

Ongoing assignments are meant to stimulate self-reflection outside of our scheduled sessions.  The assignments can include: emotional mapping, journaling, as well as mind and breathing exercises.

How long are sessions, and how often would we meet?

Sessions are 45 minutes long, conducted in the practice’s office at Alma. Sessions take place once a week - depending on your needs, we may be able to meet more frequently.

I love working with Roberta.  She's COMPREHENSIVE, honest, encouraging, and motivating. She's the first therapist That I can honestly say I feel completely comfortable with

What type of payments do you accept?  Do you take insurance?

Payments may be made by cash, check, or credit card on a session basis.  I do not bill insurance but would be happy to provide you with a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Prior to your appointment, please inquire with your insurance company to find out details about your out-of-network coverage and deductible. Alternatively, you can use Headway’s free benefit lookup tool.

What is your fee?

Fees are typically discussed when we connect to arrange a session.  I do offer limited sliding scale appointments based on ability to pay. Payment will be collected each session, and invoices will be provided at the end of the month. If I am unable to accommodate your needs, I will try my best to help you find another therapist.

Roberta completely changed my perspective on therapy.  I did not know I had the capacity to open up and think internally about sensitive topics in my life.  With her guidance, I am able to self-reflect and address my issues.  It has made such a difference in my daily life and has really allowed me to live a fuller life.

What are your specialties?

I work with both adolescents and adults across a wide range of mental health issues, including: depression, anxiety, relationship issues, interpersonal difficulties, grief and loss, trauma and PTSD, gender identity questions, acculturation, ADHD, anger management, bipolar disorder, borderline personality, career counseling, coping skills, family conflict, pregnancy/prenatal/postpartum, racial identity, self-esteem, stress, women's issues, mood disorders, and personality disorders.

Where were you trained?

I first studied Psychology at City University in London and then received MA and Ed. M degrees from New York University and Columbia University.  Following my studies, I worked as an LMHC therapist at Columbia University and Kafko Psychological Services before launching my private Psychology practice.

I arrived to my first session with Roberta with a sense of anxiety and discomfort with myself. I was always comparing myself to people around me – at work as well as in my personal life – making me feel anxious, never being satisfied when I achieved my goals and continuously looking for my next challenge. Without knowing any of this yet, Roberta helped me to reestablish a sense of myself one piece at a time. The sessions were like sitting down with a friendly, wiser companion who provided me with different perspectives on how to look at the world around me. I understood that I had learned or picked up negative patterns of thinking, and CBT helped me to break down my thoughts and change the patterns that were making me feel anxious and unsatisfied. Working through this with weekly exercises also provided a structure to the therapy, which I greatly benefited from. I feel so much more in control of my feelings and the high standards I set for myself.
